Wings For a Nine Year Old
These two hand-coloured, larger size (64 x 77 mm) photobooth photos of a boy wearing an airforce style cap, look very patriotic to me. I imagine the child’s dad to have been a serviceman. I tried to find a photo of a similar hat or crest elsewhere online but without success. Possibly this was a theatrical interpretation of the US Airforce hat used as a photobooth studio prop?
Unusually for photobooth photos of this era, (which I guess is around 1940), the focus of the images is very poor. They came from the USA in this presentation folder (below) with the words Nine Years Old written in blue ink on the back.
Nice shots, not for the technical qualities, but because the 9 year old looks so happy. I wonder if it was a birthday shot.
